TBWA\LONDON announces appointment of MTV’s Gemma Newland as UK managing director of brand entertainment arm STREAM\

TBWA\LONDON today announced the appointment of Gemma Newland to the position of Managing Director for STREAM\, Europe’s leading brand entertainment specialist, succeeding Georgie Summerhayes in the running of the London office.

Newland, who joins from MTV Networks Europe where she was Vice President of International Marketing Partnerships, will report into Summerhayes, who was promoted from Chief Executive of STREAM\ to President of STREAM\International in May this year when the agency further expanded with the launch of Stream\Asia Pacific.

Newland, who has over 12 years experience in strategic development across a variety of media disciplines within the entertainment business, will officially join the agency in October with the remit of continuing the growth of STREAM\ both in the UK and Internationally.

Newland joined MTV Networks Europe in 1998 as Pan European Sponsorship Manager. She was promoted to Sponsorship and Client Service Director in 2001 and to her most recent role as VP of International Marketing Partnerships in 2004. Most notably she was responsible for brokering and managing MTV’s first ever global deal with Nescafe and developing business with a variety of clients including Daihatsu, Campari and P&G. Prior to MTV she held the position of Sponsorship and Promotions Manager at Kiss FM between 1995 and 1998.

STREAM\, which counts PlayStation, adidas, Eurostar, Muller and Orange among its clients, has experienced significant growth over the past few years in line with the growing importance of brand entertainment as a distinct discipline for brands. In addition to STREAM\’s Asia Pacific offering the agency’s rapid expansion in Europe last year saw 7 offices open, including France, Germany and Finland. The launch of a new STREAM\ office opening in another European territory is imminent and expected to be announced within the next few months.
