NIVEA® is launching an irreverent poster campaign for its Lip Care Essential product featuring Zippy from the cult kids’ classic TV show, Rainbow. Making a comeback on 28 September, Zippy’s famous zipped lips will be transformed from arguably the roughest in Britain to soft, luscious and kissable lips, with the aim of driving trial and awareness of NIVEA Lip Care Essential. Created by TBWA\LONDON, the Ad campaign features the Zippy character under license from FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide (FLW), the licensing division of FremantleMedia - one of the largest international creators and producers of programme brands in the world including the Rainbow brand.
The ad aims to bring warmth and humour to a category that is viewed as rational and dull, whist giving NIVEA a fresh tone of voice in line with attracting its audience of 16-24-year-old women. The campaign will initially run across university cities nationwide and primarily target students through additional posting within university campuses, including library screensavers.
Rachel Jewsbury, Brand Manager for NIVEA Lip Care said: “The Beauty category can take itself too seriously sometimes. We wanted to show our younger consumers that NIVEA Lip Care is fun and cheeky and if it can transform even the rough lips of Zippy, there’s hope for the rest of us.”
Danny Brooke-Taylor, creative director at TBWA\LONDON said: “Zippy is a national institution and after years in the wilderness, he’s back as the face of NIVEA Lip Care. Who better to illustrate the product benefits than this iconic figure?!”
Pindy O’Brien, Head of Brand Licensing and Retail, UK, at FremantleMedia Licensing Worldwide, who brokered the deal with TBWA\LONDON, added: “The team at TBWA\LONDON have done a tremendous job with this campaign and we’re delighted to see Zippy make a comeback in such a spectacular style! This partnership is a great example of how creativity and a good sense of humour can really add another dimension to a product and we’re really excited to be a part of it!”
The campaign was created by Danny-Brooke Taylor, with media planning and buying through Carat.
