Adecco, the worldwide leader in Human Resource services, new national airline of the United Arab Emirates, has awarded its global $100m advertising business to TBWA after a 4-way pitch including Ogilvy & Mather, JWT and Publicis.
The account win will see TBWA oversee a major global marketing push for Etihad and will incorporate advertising, media, sales promotion and PR. TBWA will handle the business out of its London office and coordinate the other Omnicom agencies that were involved in the pitch including Fleishman-Hillard and Tequila\London.
Matt Shepherd-Smith, Managing Director of TBWA\LONDON, said: “This is a flagship advertising account and we’re delighted to be involved in the development of the Etihad brand on a global stage. It’s a great creative opportunity and the breadth of the task will see TBWA do what it does best — disrupt the airline category to create a distinctive and memorable campaign for Etihad which was recently voted the worlds leading new airline.”
Ian Ferguson-Brown, Head of Marketing at Etihad adds: “We saw some impressive agencies but TBWA really demonstrated a deep understanding of our business. We’re looking forward to working with TBWA and its sister agencies.”
A new TV and print campaign will launch in the autumn of this year.

About Etihad:
Etihad Airways already flies to 17 destinations in the Middle East, Europe and Asia. The growing network now serves Amman, Bahrain, Bangkok, Beirut, Cairo, Colombo, Damascus, Dammam, Geneva, Frankfurt, Karachi, London (Heathrow), London (Gatwick), Mumbai, Munich, New Delhi and Riyadh.
Etihad’s focus is on doing things differently — reinventing the way an airline works, with the emphasis very much on creating new standards in hospitality. Etihad refers to passengers as ‘guests’ and has three ‘guest zones’ — Diamond, Pearl and Coral - rather than classes. Each zone provides guests with a premium service and undivided attention.
In addition to Etihad’s rapidly expanding international routes, the airline has also created Etihad Holidays in record time. Launched in May 2004, Etihad Holidays offers an array of over 170 hotels in more than 35 exciting holiday destinations in 14 countries — from vibrant bustling cities and picturesque, romantic beach resorts to cultural breaks and world renowned hotels.
The cargo division of Etihad Airways, Etihad Crystal Cargo, offers a comprehensive range of cargo services on all flights across the network. A growing fleet of regional freighter aircraft operates to additional cargo destinations - currently Frankfurt, Amman, Mumbai, Milan, Chennai, Khartoum and New Delhi - and to world-wide charter locations. Etihad Crystal Cargo’s services are based on three fundamental promises - Ultimate Information Transparency, 21st Century Technology and Total Customer Focus.
