STREAM\, TBWA’s brand entertainment arm, appoints MTV’s Macky Drese as managing partner ahead of agency expansion

STREAM\, TBWA’s brand entertainment arm and Europe’s largest brand entertainment agency*, today announced the appointment of Macky Drese to the position of Managing Partner, Events and Marketing, ahead of the agency’s imminent expansion plans.

Drese joins from MTV where he was Vice President of Events and Marketing, MTV International and will report into Managing Director, Gemma Newland, who joined STREAM\ in October last year. Drese, who has over 11 years experience across media, marketing, brand consultancy, sponsorship and events at an International level, will be responsible for overseeing strategy and implementation of all experiential projects, trade marketing and creative development of client’s marketing campaigns. He will also run a global music programme for a new client soon to be announced.

His start date at the end of June will coincide with STREAM\’s move to new premises, to house the rapidly expanding team of over 30 people working to create entertainment properties for brands across its core disciplines of music, film, broadcast and experiential. STREAM\, which counts Nissan, PlayStation, adidas and Muller among its clients, has experienced significant growth over the past few years in line with the growing importance of brand entertainment as a distinct discipline for brands.

Drese joined MTV Networks International in 2000 as Pan-European Marketing Manager. He was responsible for all commercial aspects of MTV International’s major events and sponsored properties as well as setting up brand licensing deals for major label and CD & DVD releases. Promoted to Director, International Marketing Events, in 2003 he expanded his responsibilities to running the teams responsible for creating International properties and identifying brand marketing solutions for partner brands. He also created campaigns around sponsored properties, such as the MTV Europe Music Awards, and for clients such as Campari, Hugo Boss and Replay. Drese was promoted to his current position of VP, International Marketing & events in March last year.

Drese said, “I’m very much looking forward to joining STREAM\ at this point in the company’s growth. The client portfolio and originality of Stream’s work make this an exciting new challenge. What particularly attracted me was the close relationship with TBWA and the opportunity to work on the brand strategy, alongside the other sister agencies, right from the initial planning stages”.
Newland, managing director of STREAM\ said, “Macky’s global event and marketing experience will add a further dimension to the STREAM\ management team. He brings with him valuable insight and hands on expertise and an open minded visionary approach.”

STREAM\ has recently created and managed the ‘Qashqai Urban Challenge’ to support the launch of Nissan’s new hatchback, the Qashqai. The International event has seen 5 European cities transformed to hold the world’s first multi-city urban freeride tour, with finals being held in Paris on 23rd June.
